The Provisional Class had an exceptional Super Saturday on January 24, 2009. We began our morning very early outside West Bradenton Baptist Church - enjoying bagels, donuts and coffee served from Rebecca Herrman’s SUV. Our first option was a children’s waiting room at the nearly-complete One-Stop Center to meet with Martha from the Community Coalition on Homelessness. Next, we visited the Bradenton Transition Center where they asked for a refurbished family meeting/reading room. We viewed two previous projects, the Children’s Academy of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Manatee Glens’ Adolescent Recovery Center – both still looking great! Then we finished our tour at the Manatee Safe Children’s Coalition where there were several spaces needing attention. With some great discussion and voting, the ladies knew their mission was clear: the Manatee Safe Children’s Coalition is the beneficiary of the 2009 Provisional Class Project. They have already begun planning, price-checking, and fundraising for this worthy cause. Be on the look-out for your invitation to their public Open House in April.
